Missy Hairston
"Awkwardly Fabulous"

Missy Hairston plays 30 characters in this solo comedy and we follow her progress as she grows up in the South, migrates to New York where she finds remarkable success on the comedy club circuit, then pursues a career in Hollywood, where she finds that she is starting over. With plenty on the ball, she gets agents, film and television roles, and yet....She is not denied a personal life.

Hairston attracts suitors with her effervescent personality, plus she's funny (she's a professional comedian, after all). And yet....
she, at different points in her life, could be described as a woman of majestic proportions. It sometimes impacts her love life, and also her professional life.

No matter how fabulous Hairston is, it has an effect on the roles she can book. So, she strategizes on how to change her shape: Natural diet, exercise, a personal trainer. She eventually finds the inspiration to own her awkwardly fabulous self from another source.

Ms. Hairston comments on her stage persona, "The rest of the world (those in her life/situations) is trying to make her who they think she should be - she starts out with full confidence and others start to plant the seeds of doubt that prompt all the shenanigans that ensue and how she tries to change herself ."

"Awkwardly Fabulous" will resonate especially with women who have had to confront body issues and issues of esteem regarding their love and work lives (which is to say, lots of women). Plenty of men will identify with it, too. It is also very funny. Ms. Hairston received her BFA at West Virginia University and subsequently worked at the Williamstown Theater Festival and New York comedy clubs before making her way to Hollywood, where she's appeared in series including "Murder in the First", "Shameless" and in feature films including "The Preening Swan" and "The Dog Who Saved Summer".

To see Missy Hairston's revealing full show and other dynamic solo shows, please join us for the 2nd Annual Brava "A Day of Theatre" to be held at the Macha Theatre in West Hollywood.

Ai Yoshihara
"My River Phoenix"

Ai Yoshihara grew up in the small town of Niigata, Japan. Her show chronicles a young girl determined to marry River Phoenix. Phoenix passed away before they ever met, but she kept dreaming big. Yohihara traveled to America for college. She found what she thought was her River Phoenix until unsuspected things began to happen. She later found herself alone with the challenge of rebuilding her life in Los Angeles. Though incredibly shy, she had a vivid imagination. She began to take acting classes, where words were written for her.

Yoshihara began to love her time onstage and decided to tackle a greater challenge: the art of improvised comedy. She now studies improv with the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). She has performed as a member of the UCB Mess Hall teams, "Winfrey" and "Bolo." She has also acted in TV and film. In 2016, she acted in director Gus Van Sant's film "Sea of Trees." Yoshihara is determined to be one of the successful foreign nationals on the scene.

To see Ai Yoshihara's revealing full performance and other dynamic solo shows, please join us for the 2nd Annual Brava "A Day of Theatre" to be held at the Macha Theatre in West Hollywood.
