A Fantastic Wine Down Wednesday at Il Cielo!

The place to be last night was at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills for our monthly Wine Down Wednesday! We were thrilled at the warm welcoming we received from this classy restaurant with such rich history!

From their days as a hair salon where Marilyn Monroe first became a blonde, to when it was a sleeper bistro with not many diners until Frank Sinatra came in, Il Cielo has had many lives and continues to be one of the most sought after restaurants in the area.

While it might appear small from the front, they boast 4 areas all offering a different dining experience. We were so grateful to set up our soiree in their private bar where we were treated to mouth watering appetizers such as bruschetta and shrimp cocktail, and gorgeous Happy Hour wines like their Pinot Grigio and Cabernet.

With a fun group of familair faces as well as new friends, LAWTF artist, Cheray O'Neal treated us to a 10 minute excerpt from her amazing and moving play (Currently playing at The L:yric Hyperion Theatre), Journey This.

Also in presence was Terri Silverman, whom we are thrilled will be leading her workshop, "Identity as an Act of Courage" on April 30th, FREE of charge, for our ENCORE! Day of Theatre at Plummer Park in West Hollywood.

If last night's Wine Down Wednesday left you wanting to have more fun with LAWTF, or if you weren't able to stop by, have no fear as we will be heading to The Xen Lounge on May 18th in Studio City.

See you soon!

Mary, Social Media Coordinator.

Wine Down Wednesday Takes us to Beverly Hills this Month!

Greetings, friends! As we still recall (and recover!) from The 23rd Annual LA Women's Theatre Festival, we are also gearing up for our ENCORE! Day of Theatre, which will be on April 30th at Plummer Park in West Hollywood. We're so thankful for this fabulous day of FREE theatre to be happening thanks to The City of West Hollywood.

With that being said, we will definitely need some relaxation time before then, don't you think? We're thrilled to announce we will be heading to Il Cielo in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, April 20th, for our Wine Down Wednesday event.

From Il Cielo's website:

"Since 1986, il Cielo has brought "the sky" to Beverly Hills. Often called, "The most romantic restaurant in Los Angeles", il Cielo is more than just an Italian restaurant; it is a landmark. With fine dining for lunch and dinner, private rooms and tranquil gardens, il Cielo is the perfect location for almost any occasion, day or night. il Cielo has established itself as a place to impress; "A country restaurant in the city."
il Cielo is the consummate restaurant where fairy tales come to life, and many of those fairy tales begin right here in our enchanted gardens. Owners, Pasquale and Pattie Vericella, had set their sights on the home of il Cielo (formerly En Brochette) for several years before the owners agreed to sell to them in 1986. Their dream has always been to create a restaurant that was a home. "Because of my background growing up in the peaceful country sides of both Pennsylvania and in Italy;" Pasquale states, "I want our guest to feel completely at home and comfortable and be surrounded by nature, beauty and magic. il Cielo is about all things authentic: Fresh food and fresh air in a beautiful garden setting."
Over the years, il Cielo has evolved with the times while staying true to its Tuscan roots. il Cielo weaves together the many colorful threads in the rich tapestry of Vericella's life by combining a modern way of thinking with classic good taste and charm. Implementing many elements of Pasquale's personal upbringing with the traditions and culture of a Sorrento atmosphere. One could only enter il Cielo feeling as though they have entered into an Italian cottage.
Before it was il Cielo, this unique location was home to Marcel Machu and his family. He was a hairstylist to the stars! These photos taken in the 1940s show the construction of what is now il Cielo and our new bar."
There will be complimentary appetizers, great dinner, performances by some of our artists and, oh yeah, WINE!Make sure to RSVP to us by April 17th at lawtfspotlight@yahoo.com and we will see you at Il Cielo!
